Life @ Amfi

I hope you will enjoy this.

Finally Finished

Wow!! I really didn’t update for quite a long time! This is a warning for everybody who’s thinking about going to Amfi … You will not have any spare time anymore, especially not when a deadline is near. My stylebook is finally finished, which will mean that I have a calm week next week, just the regular economy, business and fashion lectures. No project for just one week. Yes, you read this correctly. At octobre 11th a new project will start, which will take up more time (or at least that’s what I’ve heard).

For now, I just wanted to share my latest project with you, the stylebook based on Jane Birkin. You will probably not understand it, but perhaps it’s good to look at it as a preparation…

I Hope You Don’t Mind…

I just made another collage.. This time the theme is transparency. The girl in the pictures is Sandra from 5 inch and up, a blog that I abolutely love.

Well, I’m going back to my homework.

Learning How To Work With PS CS3, A Bit..

Today, as you can read in this title, we had our first lesson with photoshop. I just played around with it afterwards to see what I could do with it, and of course also to practise with all the tools. I made some collages of Jane Birkin and I thought I might share these with you.

Of course, this was the first day I worked with this program, so is not quite spectacular yet.

I’ll work on that, I promiss.

First Day, Creating A StyleBook..

Well, monday was the first day we had actual lessons. And now I can explain to you what the first semester really looks like. There are three periods of each 6 weeks in which you have to create a project. The options are a stylebook, an inspirationbook and a prototype. Each of these need to be created within those six weeks. After you finnished those in the 19th week, there will be an assesment in which you can decide if you want to continue this education.

My first project is to create a stylebook. This is a professional book about a certain style. The book itself will hartly contain any text, just a lot of images to explain the style. Everybody in our class had to pick a different style, and to help you with choosing they give you a category within your style should fit. Those categories are either Historical, Ethnic or StyleIcon. So someone who gets historical, it’s going to be style that is historical, etc.. I got StyleIcon, which means I need to choose a style-icon, than discover the specific style and when I’m finnishing this stylebook there will be nothing left of the styleIcon itself.. just the style. And of course, when you take a look at the style once must immediately be able to guess which style-icon I chose…

Do I make myself clear??

I think I made a choice, is there anyone who doesn’t know this girl?

First Day Of Intro,

Today was our first introduction-day. We found out who our classmates are, got to know eachother a little, got to know our mentor a little and got to know a bit more about our year to come.
Also, we went out on an ispirational walk through Amsterdam. I shot some pictures from the city around me and this is my final selction of photo’s. What we can learn from this, is that everything can be an inspiration for your work. So, you should always be able to capture that.
After this we went to the Foam, the fotografie museum of Amsterdam. There was an exposition from Inez from Lamsweerde. Some of the photo’s were great, but I couldn’t really find any inspiration in them. Some of the Kate Moss photos I liked, but that was it for me, unfortunately.
The day ended after you were finished with the exposition. So we could go home. I must honestly tell that I made a stop at RiverIsland because I saw these cardy-boots that I really wanted, and I bought those (pictures will follow). But after that it was time to call it a day.  At the station I also made a few pics, as you can see below..
I Am exhausted of today, tomorrow is going to be shorter… But tomorrow I’ll have a lot of stuff to purchase for school. I still need a pipo-doll, all of my design-stuff (like a sketchbook, pencils etc..) and two readers, the theoratical backbone of both fashion and business…
Well, need to rest now.. My alarm will be ringing at 5 tomorrow..

First Assignent:
My first assignment was to create something that you can pin on your clothing on the introduction day, with your name on it. Be creative!!
Well, let’s work on that…
I kept it simple, with a ribbon and some flowers, and I used vilt letters to make my name.
It looks like this:
Amfi, Trying To Get In..

Underneath you’ll find some pictures that I took a couple of months ago.

My goal in Fashion is to produce it in a way that will not harm the environment, the animals and ourselves. These pictures needed to make clear that it’s not one or the other.
It is possible to achieve that, and I’m gonna….
The teacher whom I had the interview with thought my story was very boring… about the earth and the animals, but the pictures were very interesting.
Well, I got in… and I’m gonna show them something allright.

    Hi Auckje,

the first thing I would like to say is that I really like your blog!

Just read your latest: I love what you did with all those layers! I had to look a little bit harder to see the fencing.. but really amazing:P.. I also wanted to add to my other post that I was wondering how you did that cartoonish figure in your third PS…? I really like it. Did you find it somewhere, or did you do it yourself with PS?

  9. Immy says:

First of all… No, I didn’t know who she was… So, thanks for the info;).
Second: I love what you did with PS… So that promisses to be amazing when you get more experienced with it… I can’t wait!
